  An Afternoon of Persian Music in the Lost Sierra

  Join us at the beautiful Big Springs Garden Retreat Center in Sierra City on Sunday, November 1st, from 2–5pm for an unforgettable afternoon of music and community. Internationally acclaimed Iranian vocalists Mahsa & Marjan Vahdat, joined by composer and setar player Atabak Elyasi, will share their powerful and soul-stirring artistry — weaving together Persian classical music, poetry, and contemporary expression.

  Come early, beginning at 12pm, for an Open House at the retreat center, nestled at the base of the Sierra Buttes. Explore the gardens, take in the brilliant fall colors, and bring a picnic to enjoy before the music begins.

  A holiday dining event at the Community Hall for all, locals, visitors and families sponsored by the Downieville Lion’s Club, the United Methodist and Assembly of God churches.
  All donations and contributions benefit the Western Sierra Food Bank.
  Dinner served from 1-4pm.
  Donations of turkeys, hams, desserts and money are needed and can be given or ordered at Downieville Grocery and the Sierra City Country Store.
  Volunteers are needed to help set up, cook turkeys, desserts and all the trimmings, and serve on Thanksgiving Day. To volunteer/donate items, contract Suzanne at 805-881-2116
