The Sierra County Art Council is pleased to announce the opening of the Yuba Gallery next door to the Yuba Theatre, at 208 Main St., in Downieville. The opening of the Yuba Gallery will be held on the weekend of the Banff Mountain Film Festival on Friday April 1 at 11:00am. The Yuba Gallery will feature locally made arts and crafts and will act as a community resource for information and advertising of local events and programs. The Yuba Gallery will be a meeting place for local artists and musicians and will host receptions, art shows, musical events, meetings and workshops.
Will call tickets for the Banff Mountain Film Festival World tour may be picked up in the Yuba Gallery beginning at 4:00pm on Friday April 1, and at 4:00pm Saturday April 2. Doors to the Yuba Theatre will be opened for festival ticket holders at 6:00pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 1:00pm on Sunday April 3.
The Arts Council is seeking local artists and crafters who would like to sell their work. If you are interested in exhibiting and selling in the Yuba Gallery, please contact Arts Council Executive Director, B.J. Jordan, at 289-3673 or info@sierracountyartscouncil.org.
Owners of the building, Bibi Green and Jeff Champlin, have been very generous offering the space to the Arts Council with the hopes that the Yuba Gallery will contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of our community. We appreciate that they are letting us have the space again for the coming tourist season. The Arts Council hopes to someday return their generosity by becoming a successful self-supporting enterprise for the benefit of our entire community. The Arts Council would like to thank Bibi and Jeff for this opportunity. We also appreciate the enthusiastic support we have received from everyone this past year.
