Who we are
We are the non profit land trust serving western Nevada County. Our mission is to protect wildlands for public open space, recreation, and natural resources. Our focus area is the Sierra Buttes/Lakes Basin where we currently own 20 parcels totaling 1900 acres of land including a large expanse of the face of the Sierra Buttes, Young America Lake, Volcano Lake, much of the trail to the Sierra Buttes Lookout Tower, and the Packer Saddle start of the Downieville Downhill mountain bike trail. Our office is at 220 Main St. in Sierra City and includes a gallery of photographs and art of the Sierra Buttes/Lakes Basin by local artists.
